Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 2, 2026

1. Information We Collect

We only collect the information necessary to provide you with the best screen capture experience. This includes:

  • Account Information: If you sign in (e.g., via Google), we securely store your basic profile information (like email and name) to manage your subscription.
  • Local Data: Your screen captures and history are stored locally on your device by default.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information exclusively to:

  • Provide and maintain the core functionalities of PageMonster.
  • Manage your Pro subscription and verify quotas.
  • Improve our services based on general usage trends (without tracking individual browsing history).

3. Chrome Web Store & Permissions

In accordance with the Chrome Web Store's Single Purpose rule and Principle of Least Privilege:

  • We do not track, transmit, or store your browsing history.
  • Host permissions (via activeTab) are only used locally to capture the visible pixels of the current page when explicitly initiated by you.

4. Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party services to handle specific functionalities securely:

  • Supabase: For secure database and authentication management.
  • Lemon Squeezy: For secure payment processing and subscription management.

5. Permission Justifications

We believe in transparency. In accordance with the Chrome Web Store guidelines, here is a detailed justification for the permissions we request:

  • activeTab: Used to capture the visible pixels of the current active webpage upon explicit user request (e.g., clicking a capture button or using a keyboard shortcut).
  • scripting: Used to dynamically inject our screen capture and canvas generation scripts into the active page so that the screenshot can be processed and stitched together seamlessly.
  • storage / unlimitedStorage: Used to locally save the user's capture history and configuration settings, ensuring large, high-resolution screenshots can be safely stored on their device.
  • sidePanel: Provides a persistent UI alongside the webpage, allowing users to configure capture settings and manage their generated screenshots without leaving their current context.
  • offscreen: Required to process and stitch together full-page screenshots using a hidden HTML5 canvas, which requires DOM capabilities not available in a Service Worker.
  • identity: Used for OAuth authentication to manage user accounts and access premium capture features.
  • alarms: Used to schedule background subscription and quota checks to ensure continuous access to the capture tool.
  • downloads: Required to trigger the native browser 'Save As' dialog when users export their edited screenshots, ensuring they can choose where their files are saved.

For more technical details on how Chrome handles these, please see the Chrome Extensions API Permissions Reference.
